ProviderFront data sources
Official sources, versions, provenance, and limits behind ProviderFront provider and practice intelligence.

Required primary sources
CMS NPPES downloadable files
Full and incremental NPPES Version 2 files provide the primary bulk source. ProviderFront also ingests the reference files needed for other names, secondary practice locations, endpoints, and taxonomy context. Endpoint details remain private unless a separately approved display policy permits them.
NPPES Read API
The official NPPES Read API, configured at supported version 2.1, is used for targeted current-record checks. It is not called millions of times from public page requests.
What ProviderFront stores
Provenance includes source, NPI, enumeration and update dates, deactivation/reactivation dates, first and last observation, source batch, source version, and raw-source checksum. Temporal versions keep public-safe and private snapshots separate.
Source limitations
ProviderFront is independent and is not affiliated with CMS or NPPES. NPI issuance does not validate licensure or credentialing. NPPES data does not establish quality, patient acceptance, network participation, or a confirmed practice opening.
Later sources
Care Compare, state license databases, provider-submitted verification, official business registrations, or licensed commercial data can be added only after terms, schema, privacy, linkage, and redistribution review.
